How does Celcom Safepay mPOS work?
You would need to pair your device with Celcom SafePay mPOS via Bluetooth. Launch the bank app and start accepting payments with card by either slotting in or tapping the card onto the mPOS.

What types of card are accepted for payment?
All local and international debit or credit cards with VISA, MasterCard and MyDebit logo. It can be either a Chip n PIN card or contactless based card.

What are the devices compatible with Celcom SafePay mPOS?
Most smart devices operating on iOS 6 and above or Android 4.0 and above are compatible with our service.

Can I use Celcom SafePay mPOS in more than one device?
Yes. As long as the devices are compatible with mPOS device and have downloaded the bank app.

How long will one transaction take?
Depending on the Internet speed, each transaction would typically be below 15 seconds.

How do I download the app and is it free?
The app is free and downloadable from Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

How long does it take for the payment to be reflected in my account?
The payment will be deposited into your current account on the next business day.

What are the forms that are needed to subscribe to this service?

  • Merchant Application Form
  • Photocopy of bank statements three months prior to the application date
  • Photocopy of NRIC/Passport
  • 3 Photos - Premise Outlet, Signboard with Clear Registration Name, Product / Interior

What is the transaction limit for the payment?
The minimum amount chargeable is RM 1.00, while the maximum is as per credit limit of the customer’s card. For contactless payment, it is RM 250 maximum per transaction.

Do I need an Internet connection for Celcom SafePay mPOS service?
 Yes, Internet connection is required to use the Celcom SafePay mPOS service.

Do I need to sign up with any Celcom plans to use Celcom SafePay mPOS? 
Yes, you need to be a Celcom Business plan subscriber to enjoy this service

  • What Celcom package do I need before I sign up for mPOS?
    • During the soft-launch period in JUL 2018, this mPOS service will not be specifically tied to any of our package. You can sign up to this mPOS service as long as you are a Celcom subscriber.
    • After the soft-launch period, this mPOS service will be bundled with some exciting and affordable data package so that you can run the mPOS service with our data package, stay tuned!

If I am an existing Celcom Business customer and a business owner can I apply for it?
Yes, you can. Just send an email to us and our dedicated Account Manager will contact you.

  • If I already have a retail plan and I’m the director of an SME , Can I apply for it?
    • Yes you can. Just send a Whatsapp message to us at +60 19-326 9475 and we will contact you back.

Where can I view the list of transactions and settlement records?
Each merchant will have to login to the bank app to view the list of transactions and settlement records, merchant and current account statement.

  • How long does it take for the payment collected to be reflected in my account?
    • The payment will be deposited into your Hong Leong current account on the next business day. However, if you do not have a Hong Leong current account, the settlement will then require 1 more day.
  • What if I don’t have a Hong Leong Bank Current account?
    • While it is not mandatory for you to open a Hong Leong Bank current account to enjoy this mPOS service, you are encouraged to open a Hong Leong Bank current account to enjoy the full facilities of this service.

Can I get a lower Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) 
Yes, you can but MDR rates are subjected to approval of the partner bank.

How long is the contract period? What if I terminate before contract period?
During the soft-launch period, there will be no Celcom contract tie to your mPOS service. However, there is a service contract of 12-months by Hong Leong Bank. But rest assured there is no service charges tie to this 12-months contract by Hong Leong Bank.

Will Hong Leong Bank review my mPOS service with them? What are the review criteria?
All banks are governed by Bank Negara and it is part of bank’s process to review their merchants – this is a standard process. The review criteria is simple – a merchant needs to have minimum card sales volume of RM5,000 per month or RM60,000 per year to continue mPOS service.
